The past few weeks since my 4 year old has been in pre-k have been very chaotic. In his classroom they have a traffic light system. Green is for good behavior. Yellow is for when they do something that breaks the rules. They have to go to the "think about it" chair for a few minutes and then if the behavior improves they get moved back to the green light. If the behavior does NOT improve they have to move their name to the red light. If this occurs, the child will get a note sent home to his/her parents. My little boy has been getting on red light 3 to 4 times a week. He's is not listening to his teachers, he is running from them, and ripping art off of the walls in the hallway. There are other things he is doing that concern me. I'm concerned for his safety while he's there. He gets disciplined for bringing home these notes. We've tried the reward system. Nothing seems to work. I've been debating about talking to his doctor about it. He's a VERY active little boy and I've been wondering if maybe he has ADHD. I hate to even think about this, but I really think he needs some help. My hubby will be leaving for deployment in a few short months, and I would love to have this situation under control before his departure. I'm about at my witt's end! I have two girls who are older. So for a long time, I've thought well maybe it's because he's a boy, but I have friends who have boys. Their boys are active, but can listen and obey the rules. I really want to do the right thing. He's really a sweet little boy and I love him to pieces!!!
This is my little man!
